Ebola Outbreak in Uganda
On 20 September 2022, the Ministry of Health in Uganda, together with the World Health Organization – Regional Office for Africa (WHO AFRO) confirmed an outbreak of EVD due to Sudan ebolavirus in Mubende District, Uganda, after one fatal case was confirmed.As of 15 November 2022, 160 confirmed cases of EVD caused by Sudan ebolavirus including 53 deaths have been reported. An additional 21 probable cases died before samples were obtained for confirmation. There have been 62 recoveries among the confirmed cases. At least 18 healthcare workers have been infected and seven died.

The districts currently affected are Bunyangabu, Kagadi, Kampala, Kassanda, Kyegegwa, Masaka, Mubende, Wakiso and Jinja respectively.

Uganda’s efforts to contain an Ebola outbreak were starting to succeed and the country has tightened restrictions in the outbreak’s epicentre to further slow the rate of infections, President Yoweri Museveni said on Tuesday November 15th, 2022 during his National Address regarding the same epidemic.

In partneship with the Local Government and health practitioners in Kagadi District are working tirelessly to put up measures to contain the spread of this deadly virus in our village and the environs.

School Term Closure Directive

Contrary to the normal school closure of December 9th, the Education Minister said the cabinet made a decision to shut schools on November 25th, 2022 following the death of eight children succumbing to Ebola Virus Disease.
